Suspect additionally charged with malicious injury
A 46-year-old Bessie man has been charged with an inmate being in possession of a weapon and malicious injury to property if the value lost is less than $2,500. At the time, Tony Ray Glassburn was allegedly already an inmate at the Beckham County Detention Center. The investigation began at approximately 10:50 am on November 8 when a Beckham County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke to the BCSO detention captain.
The deputy learned that Glassburn had allegedly given a weapon to a fellow inmate.
“The homemade weapon was a sealed clear property evidence bag,” the reporting deputy wrote. “There was writing on the bag and it said Glassburn, Tony 1-D-2 sharpened instrument.”
The report claims that the “sharpened weapon” was allegedly four inches long.
The weapon was allegedly made out of a toothbrush and appeared that there was torn playing cards on the handle that was wrapped with string.
The investigating deputy believed the string looked to be from a mattress that inmates use to sleep on.
After deputies looked at Glassburn’s mattress, it appeared to be torn.
According to information found during the investigation, the reporting deputy alleged that Glassburn had the weapon for approximately a week before being discovered.
Glabburn is now being held on a $50,000 bond.
