A 40-year-old Elk City woman is being held on a $50,000 bond in the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with first-degree arson. The defendant, Fallon Tia Borzea, was arrested on April 21.

The investigation began earlier that day at approximately 2:05 am when a structure fire occurred at the Kings Inn in Elk City. Kings Inn is located on the 1900 block of West Third Street and is a primary residence for several patrons.

The Elk City Fire Department was able to control and extinguish the fire.

As law enforcement reviewed video footage, a female subject was allegedly observed walking from Room 145 at approximately 1:27 am.

The female subject was reportedly identified as Borzea.

“Fallon was observed walking to the dumpsters closest to Third Street, where a fire is observed as she turns away and walks to the laundry room. Fallon is observed returning to Room 145 as smoke begins to billow from the laundry room,” wrote a Elk City Police Department detective.

Later that day, Borzea was located by the ECPD and taken into custody. She was reportedly at her home on the 900 block of Second Street.

“Fallon admitted to being at the Kings Inn and burning papers at the dumpster,” the detective alleged.

Borzea has been approved for a court-appointed attorney. She is due back in Beckham County District Court on May 8.
