A 38-year-old Elk City man was charged with first degree murder by distribution of a dangerous substance in the Beckham County District Court on October 30.
Jose Antonio Acevedo is not yet in custody.
The investigation began in August of 2023 when a male subject was reportedly found unresponsive at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center. Another man, identified as Acevedo, reportedly yelled to the safety that his friend was dead in the vehicle.
Police went to the vehicle and spoke with a woman identified as Acevedo’s mother, who allegedly stated that Acevedo had called her “freaking out” because of his friend.
The investigation reportedly revealed the Acevedo had allegedly sold fentanyl to the deceased, identified as Haydn Pierson.
Social media interactions are reportedly part of the evidence.
