According to Elk City Fire Chief Kyle Chervenka, the new fire station “is progressing nicely.”
People driving by the building under construction between Broadway & 5th and Walker & Washington can see the skeletal stage of what the fire house will become.
“On the north end, you can see the five apparatus bays, and the south end is offices with the tall section in the center being the second-floor mezzanine that will function as a storage area,” Chervenka said.

The project also remains on budget.
“The project is running smoothly, and we have had a great working relationship with both Joe Hall’s construction team and the design team at REES Architecture,” Chervenka said.
The Chief also said that the property’s grounds will continue to be leveled, and workers are trying keep the older growth trees in the southwest corner.
In April last year, Elk City voters approved repurposing an existing half-cent sales tax and extending it for eight years to fund police department and fire station expansion and upgrades.
