A 51-year-old Elk City woman was jailed for larceny under $500 and obstruction of an officer.
At approximately 4:38 pm on October 13, the Elk City Police Department was dispatched to United Supermarket on reports of alleged shoplifting.
Upon arrival, an ECPD officer met with a United employee who said that a woman identified as Rosa Cantero-Cuellar had reportedly switched sales tags on several different packages of meat and tried to underprice the meat.
Her total at checkout had allegedly been $37.08, but reportedly should have been $114.97.
While the officer was running the suspect’s information through dispatch, she reportedly attempted to run from the store.
When the officer ordered her to stop, she allegedly said, “No,” while continuing to run.
The officer then reportedly pulled his vehicle next to Cantero-Cuellear, but she continued to run.
When the officer attempted to place her under arrest, she allegedly pulled away from the officer.
The officer was able to gain control of the woman and place her under arrest.
