A 48-year-old Elk City man was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana in the Beckham County District Court on October 7th.
The investigation began on October 3rd at approximately 10:36 am, when a Beckham County Sheriff ’s deputy spoke to a BCSO detention deputy. This took place at the Beckham County Detention Center.
The deputy learned that an inmate, David Mahan, had a property bag that allegedly contained marijuana and a vape pen. There was also reportedly a black case.
The deputy alleged that, inside the black case, a yellow piece of plastic containing a crystal-like substance was discovered.
This substance reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine.
The deputy then spoke with Mahan, who allegedly admitted to knowing that the suspected methamphetamine was with his other possessions.
Mahan reportedly said that he “Probably had a half a gram.”
Mahan is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $500 bail for that charge.
