A 34-year-old Elk City woman is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center for one charge of child neglect. Kayla Marie Woody is being held on a $5,000 bond. The investigation began on September 12 when law enforcement was called to Brookview Avenue for a possible domestic disturbance.
The responding officer wrote that he knew the address from a previous call about a juvenile male.
During the disagreements that Woody allegedly had with the underage child, the responding officer wrote that the child was prohibited from gathering items from the home.
The officer reportedly told Woody that it was “not someone else’s responsibility” to care for the minor, despite her being vocal about wanting him kicked out of her home.
