Two Erick residents charged with five counts of animal cruelty

A 29-year-old Erick man, Jacob Walker, is currently being held on a $10,000 bond in the Beckham County District Court on five counts of animal cruelty. A 54-year-old Erick woman, Catherine Walker, has been released on a $2,000 bond after being charged with the same. The investigation began on September 16 after the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to dogs allegedly killing chickens in Erick,. The neighbor reportedly showed the deputy where the dogs lived next door. The deputy reported that the backyard did have dogs, but that he didn’t observe food or water.

Both Walkers reportedly arrived 20 minutes later.

Jacob Walker allegedly said they didn’t have water, but had been getting water from the church.

Two of the dogs were reportedly euthanized due to poor health.
