Macy Eminger and her Sayre Sonic crew have been featured numerous times in the Beckham County Record as they have marched toward being the best Sonic in the country.
While they fell short of the gold medal, the Sayre team brought in the bronze among 3,500.
Eminger said the following while waiting for a flight home: On Saturday the 21st, we competed in a simulated lunch rush, during which they judged us on portion sizes, food quality, service, and teamwork. The competition was held at a drive-in in Henderson, Nevada.
We found out the results on Tuesday the 24th in a Live medal ceremony where the brand president and COO presented us with the medals As an operator, I’ve always known my team was top-notch, but seeing them be recognized this way was a highlight of my career.
This whole thing started with over 3,500 drive-ins, and to be recognized as the third-best drive-in and team in the nation is amazing.
Our Franchisee helped us train the month leading up to this event by running lunches at Clinton, Elk City, and Altus to get used to being in a drive-in where we don’t know where some things are because the layouts are different. They spoiled us with swag and celebrations the entire time.
Dr. Pepper sponsors the whole event, and they decked us out in Sonic Dr. Pepper Games gear, hosted us in suites at The Venetian in Las Vegas, and treated us to dinner and a Cirque De Soleil show.
We begin competing in the following year’s games in January.
