Arrest warrant issued for Sayre man for drug trafficking

Arrest warrant issued for a 55-year-old Sayre man for drug trafficking, distribution of CDS, drug possession and drug possession within a school zone, park, recreational area or public housing.

The investigation began on September 13 when a Sayre Police Department officer observed a black Nissan with California plates driving on East Benton. The tag was reportedly out of date.

The officer reportedly smelled a “strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.” The officer asked the driver, Robert E. Smith, to exit the vehicle. The officer asked Smith if he had weapons. Smith allegedly reported that he had multiple knives on his person.

The officer had decided to impound Smith’s vehicle due to not having insurance.

Smith also allegedly told the officer that he had “weed” in the vehicle, reportedly stating that there was approximately half an ounce.

The officer searched the vehicle and reportedly found other controlled dangerous substances.

That allegedly included 19 grams crystal-like substance in total, 3.3 grams in one and 16 grams in the second bag.

Additionally, 34.8 grams of marijuana was allegedly recovered.

The officer also reportedly found four cell phones, a plastic spoon and a syringe, presumed to have fentanyl.
