Elk City man charged with unlawful actions related to licensed and private firearm dealers

Although charges were officially filed against a 67-yearold Elk City man in Beckham County District Court at the end of August, the investigation began on November 1, 2023.

Juan Flores has now been charged with unlawful actions related to licensed and private firearm dealers and sellers. On November 1, 2023, an Elk City Police Department detective received a message in reference to the National Instant Background Check System conducting a search on Flores.

This reportedly showed that Flores has an active warrant for possession of CDS and DUI.

It also reportedly showed that Flores is a convicted felon.

The following day, the detective traveled to a local pawn shop and spoke with the owner about the alleged transaction.

The detective learned that Flores reportedly had a firearm on layaway but that he answered dishonestly on questions of the background check.
