Sayre High School's robotics students are gearing up to compete in the REC Foundation's VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas, from April 2527.
The team secured a spot in the international competition after earning top honors at the State VEX Robotics Competition last March.
The Unstable Unicorns, as they are known, were both State Tournament Champions and Design Award winners, making them double qualifiers for Worlds. The team, composed of Cassidy Crabb, Emma Ferrero, and Rishi Patel, designed, built, and programmed a robot capable of solving specific challenges in the 2022-2023 VEX Robotics Competition game, Spin Up. In addition, the Sayre HS Robotics team also qualified to compete in the Create US Open held in Iowa earlier this month. The competition featured over 150 of the best robotics teams in the US, and the Unstable Unicorns went an impressive 14-0 in their qualification matches, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals in Alliance play.
