Labor Day Weekend is here and I, for one, couldn’t be happier because not only does it mean a long weekend away from work, but it also is the unofficial end to this long, hot summer and that means fall and cooler weather is on the way. Bring on that pumpkin spice because I am here for it and I know a few others who are also!
Everyone is invited to attend a reception honoring Bro. Charlie Floyd for his 40th Anniversary as pastor at Texola Baptist Church. The reception will be held next Sunday, September 8th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Erick Community Center.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Gary Haney of Elk City. He was a resident of Eric for many years. Services were held on Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church in Elk City. While in Erick, Gary managed the former True Value Lumber and Hardware store, and he and Karen raised their family. It was while they were living in Erick that Gary began with the Erick Volunteer Fire Department and continued with the Elk City Volunteer Fire Department until retirement at 25 years.
Happy Anniversary wishes to Tony and Susan Sanderson, who will be celebrating on 8/31 & to Gary & Paula Harris on 9/5.
Birthdays to celebrate for this issue (8/24-8/31) will be: 8/31-Dodie McIntyre, Robert Brinkley and my 9-year-old granddaughter, Lola Cox; 9/1-Cole May & Lindsay Brooks; 9/2-Norman Arrington, Amber Bussey & Michael McGuire; 9/3-Ben Tignor, Lane Snowden, Winter Nidey, Nik Rakar & David Deeds; 9/4-N/A; 9/5-Michael Vanderpoel & Sandra Wright; and none are showing on 9/6.
