Erick couple being held on child neglect charges

An Erick couple is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on $5,000 bonds each after law enforcement officials say they consumed controlled dangerous substances in a vehicle with an infant.

On August 14 at approximately 9:15 am, a Beckham County Sheriff’s Office deputy learned that a Roger Mills County Sheriff ’s Office deputy had pulled over Ashley Toney and Jeremy Pair of Erick.

The RMCSO deputy reportedly located a glass pipe and a silver container with crystal like substance inside it.

Toney was placed under arrest. Law enforcement contacted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services because an infant was also in the vehicle.

The infant was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center, where the child reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine.

Toney allegedly admitted that she and Pair would “smoke meth inside the home” if the child was in the other room.

Pair also allegedly made similar admissions to law enforcement.
