Sayre Sonic makes Top 12 in the nation

Sayre Sonic makes Top 12 in the nation

For the last few months, Sayre Sonic General Manager Macy Eminger and her crew have waited with bated breath to see if they would be ranked in the Top 12 Sonics nationwide.

The chain, known as “America’s Drive-In,” holds this competition annually among its 3,500+ stores.

The process is tedious, beginning with secret shoppers who visit individual stores to review their service and products.

“We don’t know who they are,” Eminger said. “It could be someone local. It could be someone sent from Sonic. So, we have to do our best to be consistent.”

A few months ago, Eminger learned that Sayre Sonic had been named in the Top 50 — no small feat in itself.

But, she also knew the big reward for her team would come if they made the Top 12.

After all, those crews are then taken to Sonics annual convention to compete live in front of their peers.

“They announced it on a live video today who had the top scores among the top 50 and we were one so now we get to go compete in Las Vegas September 20-25 to find the top team,” Eminger said. “They will have us compete in individual competitions at each station — Carhop, Switchboard, Fountain and Frozen, Swamp (coneys and fried food), Grill, and Dresser. We take 6 employees to compete as a team and in the individual against the other top 11 stores.”

At the end of the competition, one team will be left standing as the top Sonic in the nation.

“I just want to thank the community for their constant support and our staff who has worked really hard to be constantly improving,” Eminger stated.
