Elk City Cop Shop is Temporarily in Historic Downtown Building

Elk City Cop Shop is Temporarily in Historic Downtown Building

Elk City Police Department headquarters are in the old City Hall building at 120 S. Jefferson until the ongoing police station remodel is complete.

City Hall was located in the recently-vacated First Methodist Church building at 101 S. Adams—the location of Elk City’s current post office— from 1939 until the City purchased the old Safeway grocery store building at 120 S.

Jefferson in 1964.

Completed in 1945, the Jefferson building was renovated in 1964-65 to accommodate City Hall.

The building housed City offices, hosted City Commission meetings, received water payments, and served as a polling place until the current City Hall opened at 320 W. 3rd Street in 2010.

In April 2023, Elk City voters approved repurposing an existing half-cent sales tax and extending it for eight years to fund police department and fire station expansion and upgrades.

The police station remodel is currently on schedule to be completed late next year.
