Northfork Electric Cooperative’s 85th Annual Meeting will be held under the pavilion at the Sayre Municipal Park on Saturday, August 17th. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and all members that register their attendance will receive an NFEC cap and a paring knife.
Please use the northeast entrance, where the NFEC bucket truck will have the flag raised, to enter the park. Drive thru registration will start at the RV park entrance.
Once registered, seating will be available in and around the pavilion for members who would like to be outside. Members will also have the option of remaining in their vehicle and listening to a (per instructions during registration) short range FM broadcast of the meeting.
Western swing band, Sons of the Sage, will return to provide entertainment from 9 to 10 a.m. Following the entertainment, the business portion of the meeting will be called to order by Jimmy Taylor, president of the board of trustees. During this time, elections for trustee positions in districts six (6) and seven (7) willbeconducted. Currently serving in districts six (6) and seven (7) are Chris Mackey and Charles Hickey. Members will also be asked to consider the adoption of revised bylaws. The trustees have proposed, for approval by the membership, amendments to the bylaws to remove proxy voting, to eliminate eligibility of corporate representatives to the board of trustees, to provide the trustees with discretion to allow mailin voting and to simplify the language of the bylaws in order to make it more user friendly. A complete copy of the proposed amended bylaws is available at NFEC headquarters and at www.nfecoop. com. Members will receive a ballot to cast their vote during registration.
Members in attendance will be eligible to win numerous door prizes. Kids’ prizes this year include four bicycles for kids ages 10 and under. Kids ages 11 to 17 can register to win a pair of Apple Air-Pods. All kids registering will also receive a gold $1 coin.
This year’s grand prize winner will take home a John Deere Z545R 54inch ZTrack mower, sponsored in part by Western Equipment. The runner- up will receive $1,000 cash, sponsored by R&R Powerline. Third and fourth place winners will each receive Makita cordless self-propelled lawn mowers with batteries and chargers. The fifth name drawn will take home a 75” Roku TV. The winners of those prizes will be drawn when a quorum is met, usually around 10 a.m., and announced at the conclusion of the business meeting following the door prizes. You must be present to win.
LifeSpring Home Health is going to be on hand throughout the morning providing free health screenings and blood pressure checks. The OBI Blood Mobile will also be onsite for a blood drive. You can schedule an appointment to donate blood by calling Connie Ferrero at 928-3366 before noon Friday, August 16. Walk-ins will also be accepted on Saturday.
Free swimming, inflatable slide and miniature golf will be available throughout the day. In addition to all the fun and prizes, it is our plan to provide a delicious barbecue meal, catered by Blue Mountain Smoke. The Red Knights will be joining us this year to help serve the meal.

NFEC members should be looking for their registration cards in the mail. You’ll need to bring your card, along with a photo ID to register at the meeting.
