A possible shooting on “the drag,” the decades-long hangout for teenagers to drive up and down to see friends, left many concerned last week.
Now, a seventeen-year-old male from Elk City has been charged with shooting with the intent to kill.
Because the defendant is being charged as a youthful offender and not as a child, his name is public record.
The suspect was identified in public court records as Leonel Bryan Ramirez. Others have referred to him as Leonardo.
The investigation began on July 25 when an Elk City Police Department detective was notified about a possible shooting in the area of West Third Street and Oklahoma Street in Elk City.
An eye witness reportedly gave the detective a video of the alleged shooting.
The detective found the victim, a 21-year-old man, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center with a bullet wound in his right arm and a bullet wound in his leg.
