Elk City man charged with attempting to perform an act of violence to cause serious injury or death

A 69-year-old Elk City man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond after being charged with attempting to perform an act of violence to cause serious injury or death and possession of a drug paraphernalia.

A 69-year-old Elk City man is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond after being charged with attempting to perform an act of violence to cause serious injury or death and possession of a drug paraphernalia.

The investigation began at approximately 3:04 pm on June 25 when Elk City Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of West 7th Street due to a report that Johnny Edward Evans had allegedly pulled a knife on someone.

When officers arrived, they spoke with both the alleged victim and Evans.

Evans reportedly had a knife in his pockets, was “extremely agitated, yelling and gesturing wildly, and generally not complying with officer commands.”

The alleged victim reportedly stated that Evans had become upset, pulled a knife, and threatened to “slit (omitted)’ s throat.”

While taking Evans into custody, officers reportedly found drug paraphernalia.

Evans allegedly claimed ownership of the paraphernalia.
