The annual Memorial Day Service at the Veterans Memorial at Fairlawn Cemetery will be Monday, May 27, at 10:30 am.
The keynote speaker will be retired Beckham County Associate Judge and District Judge Doug Haught.
Haught served decades on the bench, but prior to that served in the United States Army.
After leaving the Army, Haught joined the National Guard and retired with the rank of Colonel.
The Beckham County Sheriff ’s Honor Guard will perform the gun salute. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will conduct the flag-lowering ceremony.
Shawn Wilson will provide the sound system, poetry, and music.
Haydn Laufer will play Taps. “This ceremony continues to grow from year to year, and I would encourage everyone to come spend a half hour with us at this brief, simple ceremony honoring those who have served — especially those who served and gave all for this country,” Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning said. “I also encourage everyone to bring their children and grandchildren so they can be introduced to this important ceremony honoring our heroes.”
