Arrest warrant issued for Sayre man charged with child neglect, stolen property and possession of firearm after conviction

Arrest warrant issued for Sayre man charged with child neglect, stolen property and possession of firearm after conviction

An arrest warrant was filed for a 34-year-old man in the Beckham County District Court on May 1.

Bryan Lee Pfeil was officially charged at that time with child neglect, concealing stolen property, and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

The investigation began on April 2 when Elk City Police Department detective Sammy Weygand reportedly was contacted about an alleged burglary.

The alleged burglary included pistols, scopes, tools, motors, and a zero turn lawn mower.

Weygand reportedly met with a person who had allegedly believed they may have bought one of the stolen guns. Weygand had the serial numbers for the guns, he wrote. The serial number matched.

The tipster allegedly bought the gun from Bryan Lee Pfeil.

A search warrant conducted on Pfeil’s home reportedly uncovered illegal controlled substance, paraphernalia, ammunition and a minor child nearby. Pfeil has allegedly left the state.

However, Detective Weygand wants local residents who may have bought stolen items to come forward to protect themselves.

“This isn’t to make strong case, but to help people,” Weygand said. “We have executed multiple warrants and will be filing more charges likely soon. But, there is quite a bit linked to him that is missing. Could be anywhere from 40-80 guns. If you got a deal on a gun from him that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Now, if you are in Elk City or Beckham County and are pulled over with that gun, we are all aware. But, there are dozens of serial numbers on stolen guns registered. If you are traveling anywhere else, there is a very good chance you can get charged with a serious crime. Also, if you let him stay with you, you could be charged with harboring a fugitive. We do not want people to get a felony for simply being nice and letting him sleep on your couch. He knows he has to speak to us. And, if you bought a gun from him in what you believed was a legitimate gun deal, you can come forward and the DA’s office can help you possibly get restitution. If you are charged in another state with possession of a stolen firearm somewhere else, that probably won’t happen. You can come to us now and we will do the best we can to get your money back.”
