“Well, who doesn’t love a slice of warm, fresh bread,” Iesha Jones laughed when asked why she founded her sourdough bread company, Dough Co.

But, while devilishly delicious carbohydrates would certainly be ample motivation for anyone to labor over the sourdough treats, Jones’s real motivation revolved around her young son.

“Kaiser has an allergy to eating regular bread, which gave him a reaction, but I found sourdough did not cause that. Plus, I was like so many of us are now — I had found baking sourdough videos on TikTok. I worked and worked at it to teach myself, and now here we are,” Jones recounted.

She says she was shocked when she posted her first loaf, and so many friends were interested.

Quickly, her in-home business was born.

“I decided to call it Dough Co,” Jones said. “Really, I just wanted something simple that people would remember.”

She found that sourdough was remarkably versatile. The possibilities are virtually endless.

“I can make your basic rolls for a good holiday dinner, but our specialty loaves also exist. One that is popular is cheddar-jalapeño. But then, I can turn around and do sweet things like cookie dough. For anything you could dream up, there is a recipe out there. Then I will work on it and tweak it until it is unique and perfect for my customers,” Jones stated.

Dough Co. is offered in multiple retail businesses through Beckham and Roger Mills Counties.

While some restaurants and coffee shops like Main Street Cafe in Elk City or the Turtle Hole in Cheyenne use Jones’s breads as menu items, stores like Bella Vita sells it directly to customers to take home.

“I do different things for each place. We all try to help and promote each other,” Jones said.

Jones also makes multiple weekly drop-offs throughout the two counties. She can be contacted through the Dough Co. Facebook page for custom orders.
