Both the 6U and 10U Sayre softball girls reportedly achieved important wins last weekend, often facing off against older teams and travel ball teams.
The older girls played in a tournament where they were seeded in the gold bracket after pool play, finishing the weekend 2-3.
All their losses were in close games. The Lady Eagles didn’t get behind until the final innings in each loss.
Sayre 6U Canes were crowned champions at the Elk City Border War Tournament.
The girls went completely undefeated in the tournament, overcoming Merritt 20-19 in a hard-swinging, hard-charging game for both teams.
The Sayre girls scored six runs in the bottom of the final inning against Merritt.
