A 65-year-old Clinton man was charged with unlawful actions related to licensed dealers and private sellers of firearms and any convicted felon in possession of any firearm in the Beckham County District Court on April 15. The investigation began with an Elk City Police Department detective on February 11, when he reportedly received a teletype tip from the National Crime Center informing the ECPD of a firearms transaction that had been denied.

The listed subject was Michael Zane Siler. The nature of the denial was “conviction for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year or a misdemeanor conviction punishable for more than two years.”

The detective then spoke to the Elk City pawn shop that had reportedly received Siler’s application.

The detective also learned that Siler had convictions in multiple Oklahoma counties for domestic violence.

Siler had allegedly attempted to purchase two firearms but was not truthful in his application.
