Sayre Public Schools superintendent announces retirement

Sayre Public Schools Superintendent Danny Crabb recently announced his retirement from SPS and public education.

Sayre Public Schools Superintendent Danny Crabb recently announced his retirement from SPS and public education.

Crabb served the district for many years, eventually taking the helm as superintendent. Several teachers have expressed to the Beckham County Record how much Crabb will be missed.

The Sayre School Board is currently accepting applications for Crabb’s replacement.

Crabb said, “Eighteen years ago, Jennifer and I returned to Sayre and Sayre Schools after being away for almost twenty years. Looking back, deciding to return home was the best choice we could have made. We’ve loved working at Sayre Schools, and the memories we’ve made will last a lifetime. Raising our daughter in our hometown with her grandparents by her side has been a blessing for which we’ll always be grateful.

A few weeks ago, we decided it was time to step away from our positions at the school. With our daughter graduating in May and preparing to head off to college, we wanted to have flexibility and not be tied down for the next year or so. We plan to keep our roots planted here in Sayre and look forward to whatever the future may bring.

The Sayre community and school system have been incredible to us! We will miss our daily contact with students, friends, and colleagues, but we plan to stay in touch.”
