On Thursday, the Beckham County Sheriff ’s Office app reported that a small aircraft had crashed in a field near Delhi and that they were looking for the pilot.

Shortly after, a second report came in that the pilot had been found and was uninjured.

The aircraft was described by Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning as a kit plane. Others familiar with this plane have described it as a glider.

The cause of the crash is unknown. It crashed in tall grass, and Manning said first responders were worried that the pilot might have been ejected and were concerned that driving onto the field might result in accidentally running over the pilot.

The pilot was not at the scene, however.

The plane had flipped over upon impact, according to others familiar with the crash site. The pilot has recovered the plane.
