Poole’s Walk-off Picture Perfect Ending In Elk City Varsity Elks’s Victory Over Blanchard

It came down to the wire on Friday, with Elk City Varsity Elks taking victory on a dramatic walk-off home run in the late innings that sealed their victory over Blanchard. The game was tied at 13 with Elk City Varsity Elks batting in the bottom of the eighth when Cale Poole hit a solo homer.

Despite falling down by five runs in the fourth inning, Blanchard tried to fight back. Blanchard scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a walk by A Kilgore in the fifth, a grand slam by C Howe in the fifth, a double by C Pierce in the fifth, and a sacrifice fly by Kilgore in the sixth.

Elk City Varsity Elks got on the board in the first inning. Catch Geno drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Blanchard tied things up at 13 when Kilgore’s sac fly scored one run for Blanchard.

After Blanchard scored four runs in the top of the fourth, Elk City Varsity Elks answered with four of their own. Blanchard scored when Howe singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs and J Heard doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Elk City Varsity Elks then answered when an error scored one run for Elk City Varsity Elks and Kash Mayfield homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Blanchard scored six runs in the fifth inning. Kilgore, Howe, and Pierce all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Aiden Hopper led the Elk City Varsity Elks to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The righthander lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four. Austin Jones and Kaden Holder entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

H Periman started the game for Blanchard. The hurler allowed one hit and four runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two. B Fust and Howe entered the game as relief, throwing four and a third innings and two and a third innings respectively.

Geno started the game for Elk City Varsity Elks. The righty allowed five hits and six runs over three and twothirds innings, striking out four Elk City Varsity Elks socked four home runs on the day. Hopper had a homer in the third inning. Poole went deep in the eighth inning. Mayfield went yard in the first and fourth innings.

Elk City Varsity Elks collected 12 hits on the day. Mayfield, Poole, Cole Buie, and Collin Church all collected multiple hits for Elk City Varsity Elks. Church, Buie, Poole, and Mayfield all had two hits to lead Elk City Varsity Elks. Elk City Varsity Elks stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Holder led the way with five.
