Around The State:

We have several Elk City Athletes who play at various colleges around the state and elsewhere. We would like to get information from their parents, teachers or relatives about them or their team performances for local information.

We have several Elk City Athletes who play at various colleges around the state and elsewhere. We would like to get information from their parents, teachers or relatives about them or their team performances for local information.

To our knowledge, there are four golfers playing for different colleges: Tate Trotter (University of Science and Arts, Chickasha, OK), Ryder Cowan (Oklahoma University), Nathan Womack (University of Central Missouri) and Tres Hill (Oklahoma City University).

Golf, baseball, and track and field have been good in Elk City for furthering education past high school. Others who have gone on to play sports in college from Elk City include Drake Hughes (Baseball), and Kelsi Wilson (golf), Joby Gray (golf) and sisters Haley and Tori Gunkel, now married, successful and with children.

OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY Oklahoma City University Golf (NAIA) is University is ranked 10th in the NAIA and Tres Hill is ranked 20th. Best finish by Tres Hill is a win at the Sand Creek Station tournament last fall and was awarded the SAC Player of the Week.

Most recent tournament by OCU, San Antonio Invitational: Team placed 3rd, and Tres Hill Placed 4th, and, Oak Tree Invitational: Team placed 5th, Tres Hill place 9th. UCO won the Tournament. For details, go to (https://swosuathletics. com/documents/2024/3/19/ Oak_Tree_Invite_Results. pdf).

Note: Tres Hill is the current and three-time Club Champion of Elk City Golf & C.C.; he won the 2021 Oklahoma State Amateur as a senior in high school and the 4-A High School Championship at Winter Creek.
