A 34-year-old Sayre woman is being held in the Beckham County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond after being charged with child neglect and drug possession.

The investigation began when a school resource officer executed a search warrant on March 12.

The SRO found multiple adults in the home, but De-Londa McBride seemed to be the homeowner.

Four children were reported to live there, the youngest listed as five-years-old.

“During my search of the residence, I found the following: feces on the floor, clothing, and spoiled and contaminated food throughout the residence. There was a lack of plumbing throughout the residence. Medication was in areas that were easily accessible to children. An ashtray containing a green leafy substance field tested positive for marijuana. Drug paraphernalia pipes with white residue field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl separately,” the SRO wrote.

McBride was taken into custody.

Sheriff Manning said in the summer of 2023 that he was expanding the presence of SROs to all Beckham schools.
