The Sayre Public Library will host Elk City author Pauline Ringer at 4 pm on Friday, March 21.
Ringer is a Christian author who was inspired by her Minnesota childhood to tell fun stories of teddy bears to children. She is also an accomplished baker and will have cupcakes for children.
Her book, titled “For the Love of Teddy,” took 11 months to produce. She was inspired by the Americana that vintage teddy bears represent.
By happenstance, Ringer stumbled upon old cards with vintage teddy bears. From that, her idea took root.
“These cards were forty years old,” Ringer recounted. “I then bought ten little vintage teddy bears online and sewed little clothes for them. It was a labor of love. As I was doing that, all these memories of my childhood flooded back to me.”
Ringer fashioned her sewing room into a photo lab.
She said it was “real vintage teddy bears who take to the stage representing the boys and virtue of family life.” Ringer’s book is approximately 70 pages. Each pages shows her unique perspective.
“The rest of that inspiration was kindled from the warm memories growing up in Minnesota,” she wrote. “Life with five siblings, a loving mother and father, and trips to the grandparents’ farm was a blessing from above.”
Multiple Bible verses are on display within the book.
Ringer and her husband are happy to call Elk City home, their “refuge” from city life.
She is also a published writer and photographer. She takes joy in being a wife, homemaker, seamstress, creative writer, and photographer.
The public is invited to the author’s meet and greet on Friday.
