WTC Students Qualify for National BPA Competition

Students in the Business Technology program at Western Technology Center, Sayre Campus, competed in the State Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America in Tulsa, OK on March 4-6, 2024, as reported by Susanne Silk, BPA Advisor. Those placing in their competitive events on the state level were as follows:

Students in the Business Technology program at Western Technology Center, Sayre Campus, competed in the State Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America in Tulsa, OK on March 4-6, 2024, as reported by Susanne Silk, BPA Advisor. Those placing in their competitive events on the state level were as follows:

• Callie Long, Elk City: 1st Place Word Processing 1st Place Administrative Support Team 8th Place Administrative Support Concepts 4th Place Management, Marketing and Human Resources Concepts 4th Place Medical Terminology Concepts

• Josephine Taraco, Elk City, OK:

1st Place Administrative Support Team

6th Place Spreadsheet Applications Placing in the top three qualify a student to compete at the national BPA Conference in Chicago, IL on May 1-14, 2024.

Students, advisors and guests from throughout the state participated in Business Professionals of America’s annual State Leadership Conference. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, and election of state officers. The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the awards to the winners of the state contests at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Tulsa.

Susanne Silk, BPA Advisor, commented, “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication these students have demonstrated. They have taken on additional responsibilities while still completing their course work. I am excited for their success and the opportunity to compete on a national level in Chicago.”

Business Professionals of America is the premier CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

BPA has 45,000 members in over 1,800 chapters in 25 states and Puerto Rico. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.
