Organizers of the 2023 Sayre Alumni Weekend said on Sunday morning that this weekend’s annual extravaganza was a success.

Amy Loynd with the Alumni Committee stated that the attendance was on par with the previous year, which saw a considerable uptick.

The festivities began on Thursday evening with the Hometown Follies. Charlie Burns served as the master of ceremonies. Students from Sayre High School performed.

On Friday, the basketball game took place. On Saturday morning, the Sayre Alumni Parade kicked off at 10:30 am with 30 entires.

At 11:30 am, the Sayre Alumni Luncheon began and lasted until 2 pm. The group served brisket, sausage, coleslaw, potato salad, beans, dessert and a drink. The meal was $12 for adults and $7 for children. Proceeds went to benefit the Sayre After Prom Party.

Throughout the weekend, the Alumni Softball Tournament and Inaugural Alumni Golf Horserace took place.

The softball tournament had five teams. Team Plummer and Team Cottom played for the championship with Team Plummer coming out victorious.

Saturday evening held a bull bucking and dance. The Dean Jackson Band played at the dance.
