Sayre Eagles Clinches Lead in Fourth Inning to Defeat Cordell Varsity Blue Devils

Sayre Eagles took the lead late and defeated Cordell Varsity Blue Devils 12-4 on Monday. The game was tied at four with Sayre Eagles batting in the bottom of the fourth when Lawson Simpson doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

In the first inning, Cordell Varsity Blue Devils got their offense started. Tucker Priebe grounded out, scoring one run.

Sayre Eagles notched six runs in the fifth inning. Rocky Willis, Hunter Hanrahan, Lucien Zakrzewicz, Simpson, and Jackson Campbell each drove in runs during the inning.

Juan Galavez got the win for Sayre Eagles. The southpaw allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out five. Richard Croslin led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Cordell Varsity Blue Devils. The hurler allowed nine hits and 12 runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Sayre Eagles tallied nine hits. KK Beard and Simpson all had multiple hits for Sayre Eagles. Beard led Sayre Eagles with three hits in three at bats. Sayre Eagles stole 12 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Zakrzewicz led the way with two.

Danny Corbin went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cordell Varsity Blue Devils in hits.
