Kiwanis Karnival is Held

The Elk City Convention Center hosted the annual Kiwanis Kids Karnival February 2 and 3.

With help from local high school Key Club members, Kiwanians manned booths, took tickets that had been purchased, and helped carnival goers as they played games and won prizes.

Attendees played Dr. Pepper Ring Toss, Skee-Ball, Teddy Bear, bowling, bingo, and other games.

The two-night event is the Elk City Kiwanis Club's big yearly fundraiser.

In addition to sponsoring Kiwanis T-ball for children ages 4 and 5 at Kiwanis Park every summer, the civic club also awards college scholarships every spring to local high school seniors, and money raised from the Kids Karnival funds these.

The Kiwanis Kids Karnival was originally held in Ackley Park, but it moved to the Convention Center after the City purchased the building in 1981.
