Grape management course open to growers of all experience levels

STILLWATER. – Registration is now open for the 2024 Oklahoma State University Extension Grape Management Course that begins in March and ends in September.

What: OSU Extension and the OSU Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture will share grape management information and provide networking opportunities for new and established grape growers.

Participants will also receive: OK Vineyard Establishment and Management Handbook Pocket Guide to Oklahoma Grape Pests

Certificate of completion Who: Prospective and seasoned grape producers When: The course is broken into six half-day experiences designed to show each stage of grape production: Thursday, Mar. 7: Course overview, site selection and pruning Thursday, April 4: Grape species, planting and weed management Thursday, May 2: Economics, soil and water quality and disease management Thursday, June 6: Irrigation, fertilization and guest speaker

Thursday, Aug. 15: Harvest, veraison and wine chemistry Th ursday,Sept.5:Post-harvest vineyard care, course evaluation and graduation Each session is set for 1 to 5 p.m., but dates and topics may be subject to change. No session will be held in July.

Where: Cimarron Valley Research Station, Perkins, Oklahoma. The station is located a half-mile north of the intersection at Highway 33 and 177.

The course is limited to the first 50 registrants and costs $250 per person. Register online by Feb. 23.
