CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Western Oklahoma will have their first annual winter event “Boots & Bling Gala” on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 pm. at the Redlands Event Center, 608 Frisco in Clinton.
Seating is limited but there are tickets still available for the fund-raising event which will include a catered dinner, entertainment, dancing, and silent and live auctions. Some auction items include bird hunts, deer hunts, and mountain cabins and Roatan vacation home, as well as silent auction gifts from many local sponsors.
CASA is striving to reach its goal of serving more than 220 children across communities in Beckham, Roger Mills, Custer, Washita, and Dewey counties. Every dollar raised will help volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children.
During the past year, 72 CASA trained volunteers have provided a voice in court for over 200 Western Oklahoma children in DHS custody (currently about 63% of children in custody). Funds are not awarded from state, only from grants and community contributions.
Jackie Aaron, Executive Direction said, “Reaching our fund-raising goal will allow us to expand our services to increase the number of children we will be able to serve the coming year. We hope to recruit and train enough volunteers for every child in DHS custody. Every child deserves a voice in court, so that our county judges do not have to choose which child receives a CASA volunteer and which do not, due to the limited number of volunteers.”
Those who wish to support this event, by buying tickets or with other gifts, should contact the CASA office, 580774-9017 or 580-774-7257, or email [email protected]. CASA of Western Oklahoma, Inc. is a charitable organization and donation receipts are available upon request. Individual tickets are available as well as table sponsorships.
