A 43-year-old Sayre man was released on a $5,000 bond from the Beckham County Detention Center after being charged with assault and battery upon a police officer, destroying evidence, obstruction of an officer, resisting a police officer, threatening violence, and possession of marijuana.
Charges against Mikel John Bohannon were filed in the Beckham County District Court on January 17.
The investigation began on January 9 when the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a BCSO school resource officer.
Several details within the probable cause affidavit are being withheld because those details are related to a minor child.
However, those details show that a search on a vehicle tag reportedly returned Bohannon’s name.
Bohannon reportedly came to the scene and was “yelling.”
After allegedly refusing orders, a BCSO deputy removed his service weapon.
Bohannon had reportedly gotten inside the vehicle and climbed between seats.
The suspect was again given orders to exit the vehicle, but allegedly would not exit.
Bohannon was then reportedly tased but pulled the taser prongs out of his person.
A deputy allegedly saw a knife on Bohannon and grabbed it, but Bohannon reportedly grabbed the knife, squeezed the deputy’s hand, causing the deputy to drop the knife.
The deputy then reportedly struck Bohannon twice.
Bohannon was then reportedly tased a second time.
After Bohannon was handcuff ed, law enforcement allegedly found a pill bottle with another person’s name.
The bottle reportedly contained marijuana.
