In the I-40 rivals first meetup of the 2023-24 basketball season, the Elk City Elks met up with the Clinton Red Tornadoes on Friday night.
The Big Elks looked strong against the Reds, winning by a whooping 65-34.
The romping was led by Cole Buie, an athletic standout in multiple sports, who put 29 through the net.
The game was close at halftime with a score of 26-19, but then Buie and his fellow Elks put on a shooting clinic for their Custer County competitors from the east.
Both Buie and Alex Cupp swished three-pointers.
In fact, Cupp scored an impressive 20.
Of course, the win was a group effort with 14 assists on 25 baskets.
Adding to the victory were Tucker Garza with 6, Blake Redd with 4, Rafe Coslow with Collin Church with 2 and Jeremiah Jackson for 1.
Big Elks play again on Wednesday.
