1-40 collision near Sayre results in fatality

A fatality car collision that reportedly occurred at approximately 6:54 am on December 23 near the 25-mile marker near Sayre has been reported by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

A fatality car collision that reportedly occurred at approximately 6:54 am on December 23 near the 25-mile marker near Sayre has been reported by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The collision was approximately .1 mile from Sayre and occurred in the eastbound lane.

The collision reportedly occurred when a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 42-year-old Michele L. Nobel, of Tucson, Arizona, departed the roadway for unknown reasons to the left and collided with a guardrail.

The vehicle then reportedly rolled down an embankment and landed on Business 40 under the interstate.

Nobel was pronounced dead at the scene by Sayre EMS.

A second passenger, a 10-year-old male, was also pronounced dead at the scene by Sayre EMS. The passenger suffered head, leg, and trunk injuries.

Two other passengers, a 14-year-old male and a 6-year-old male, were transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, for medical treatment.

The older boy was admitted in critical condition with a head injury and the younger boy was admitted in stable condition with a leg injury.
