Traditionally, the 4H Club has not been covered in sports sections. Typically, the activities of the agricultural club would have been on the community pages.
Recently, however, both the Elk City and Beckham County 4H groups have been incredible showings in the shooting sports, including state and national titles.
But, the group has always been community focused at its roots.
That was seen over the Christmas Break holiday has Elk City 4H restocked Giving Boxes and visit adult assisted living centers.
Giving Boxes are a community resource that allows citizens and tourists in need to grab a non-perishable food item, no questions asked.
The items, such as canned soup, spaghetti sauce, or applesauce, is left by concerned citizens and civic groups likes the 4H.
