Dobson Fiber Breaks Ground for Sayre high-speed internet

Dobson Fiber joined with the Sayre Chamber of Commerce last week to break ground on its new multi-million dollar commitment to bring fiber-fast internet to the majority of homes and businesses in Sayre. The new development follows Dobson’s previous project in Elk City. Several new Dobson customers in Elk City have reported increased speed and reliability. Kristen Seymour with the Sayre Chamber of Commerce praised the development. Access to this type of internet is also seen as essential to oil and gas development companies when deciding where to invest and develop wells. Dobson has a long history in western Oklahoma, beginning as a telephone company in 1936. Dobson Telephone still provides landlines to areas such as Cheyenne. The company then began providing cellular service to western Oklahoma in the 1980s. As the communications industry continued to expand, Dobson branched into internet services. Dobson Fiber is their latest expansion into state-of-the-art internet networks. The company has already put down over 5,000 miles of fiber throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. Sayre residents can visit Dobson. net to register their home and business addresses to be alerted when the project is completed and fiber internet is available in their area.
