The Merritt Oilerettes are starting the 2023-2024 basketball season on a strong note with their third consecutive win.
The Merritt girls had two games last week and won both. In the first game against Canute, Chole Stout had a strong performance in the 74-41 Oilerette victory.
Stout knocked out 31 points as the top scorer.
Hallie Smith led rebounds with seven.
The game was close at halftime, however, with Canute only trailing by one.
Ella Porter led the Oilerettes in assists, making ten vital assets.
The Oilerettes squared up against the Cheyenne Lady Bears on Tuesday for their second game of the week.
This second game was a nail-biter until the end. The Oilerettes came out on top, though, with a 63-59 victory.
Marlie Mong led the team with 34 points and 8 rebounds.
