A 31-year-old Elk City woman has been released from the Beckham County Detention Center after being jailed with one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, felony charges of possession of a synthetic controlled substance with the intent to distribute, and a municipal count of drunk and disorderly conduct.

The investigation began at approximately 11:14 pm on October 7 when an Elk City Police Department officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Jackson.

Dispatch had reportedly advised the officer that it sounded like subjects were fighting on the phone.

The call to the dispatcher then reportedly disconnected.

An ECPD corporal arrived at the scene just seconds before the reporting officer.

The reporting officer noticed a woman at the front of the residence.

The corporal reportedly asked the woman to “Come here for a second,” but she allegedly did not cooperate.

The woman was later identifi ed as Jessica Renee Crowe.

The woman was reportedly attempting to put her dog on a leash and then went to her vehicle in an attempt to leave.

Crowe was allowed to put her dog in her vehicle.

A third ECPD officer reportedly asked Crowe to get out of her car and, in doing so, she allegedly slammed his hand into the car door.

A second person in the home allegedly claimed that Crowe had been doing methamphetamine.

That person also reportedly claimed that Crowe had been physically abusive, but officers could not find any distinguishing marks to prove domestic abuse.

The second person was also reportedly unclear whether they wanted to press charges against Crowe.

Officers believed that Crowe was under the influence of “some kind of substance, possibly methamphetamine,” and placed her under arrest for disturbing the peace by drunk and disorderly conduct.

Crowe was then transported to the Elk City Municipal Jail.

The reporting officer reportedly asked Crowe if she “had anything on her.”

Before entering the jail, the officer reportedly told Crowe that, should any illegal contraband be found upon her person after entering the jail, more serious charges would be filed.

Crowe reportedly said that she did not possess contraband. A female officer then did the search of Crowe.

The female officer reportedly stated that she believed Crowe was concealing something on her person.

Other officers then assisted.

Officers were allegedly able to find a glass pipe reportedly used for methamphetamine consumption and a plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine. The amount of alleged methamphetamine was not listed in the affidavit.

Crowe is due back in Beckham County District Court on November 15.
