At approximately 10:55 pm on October 4, an Elk City Police Department officer was traveling southbound on North Randall.

As he approached the intersection of West Second Street and North Randall, the officer observed a silver Ford SUV.

The vehicle allegedly appeared to be traveling at a higher rate of speed than the posted 35 miles per hour.

The vehicle then allegedly ran a stop light.

The officer sped up to catch the vehicle.

Two ECPD officers looked for the vehicle in the close proximity.

The reporting officer observed a pair of headlights in the area in a residential yard.

“I also observed a distraught male subject running, eastbound, down the sidewalk, toward my location. I immediately got out of my patrol unit and made contact with him,”

the officer wrote. The man was identified as Karson King.

King allegedly appeared “exhausted” and “terrified.”

He reportedly apologized for not having insurance.

The officer asked King if he had ditched his car, and King allegedly said that he had.

A second officer stayed with King as the reporting offi cer traveled to the car.

During the run, the vehicle had allegedly gone into a yard and collided with a truck.
