Big Elks fall to Newcastle Racers in the first round of the playoffs

The Big Elks played their final game of the 2023 season in a hard-fought defeat to the Newcastle Racers.

The Elks finish the season with a 7-4 overall record and a 5-1 district record.

The final score was 46-21 for the Newcastle victory.

However, the game was closer than the final score would illustrate. The Elks had 268 rushing yards and no turnovers.

The Big Elks jumped out to an early lead, scoring the only touchdown in the first quarter.

Newcastle answered with 17 points in the second quarter while preventing the Big Elks from scoring.

Elk City then scored in the third quarter, bringing the game to a 14-17 Newcastle lead.

The Racers then tacked on two more touchdowns, bringing the score to 14-31 going into the fourth quarter.

Elk City once again added a touchdown, but Newcastle scored 15.

Jayden Wynn, Cooper Garbarino, and Tucker Garza all scored for the Big Elks.
